Guide
Google photos that win jobs
People do not read your website. They scan the photos, decide whether your work looks like the standard they want, and then look for the phone number. Photos are doing more selling than your copy is.
Take before and after every time
Before and after is the most persuasive thing a trade can show, and it costs you ten seconds at each end of the job. Take the before shot even when you are not sure the job will be a good one.
Same angle for both. The comparison only lands if the framing matches.
What to actually photograph
A short list covers almost every trade.
- The finished work, wide and then a close detail
- Something that shows the standard, like neat pipework or a clean edge
- The van and the team, so people know who is turning up
- A job in progress, tidy site and all
Basic quality rules
Shoot in daylight or turn the lights on. Wipe the lens. Hold the phone steady and take three so you have a choice.
Tidy the frame first. A brilliant bathroom fit with a bag of rubble in the corner reads as a messy tradesman.
Ask before you post
Get the customer to agree before you photograph inside their home, and never show anything that identifies the property such as house numbers, alarm panels or post.
Most people are happy to say yes when you ask on the day.
Put them everywhere
Add them to your Google Business Profile as you go, not in one big upload. Use the best ones on the relevant service page of your site.
On our monthly plan you can just send us the photos and we will put them where they belong.
Common questions
Do photos help my Google ranking?
They keep your profile active and they strongly influence whether someone chooses you over a competitor, which is the part that matters.
Can I use stock photos of work?
You can, but customers spot them and they undermine trust. Your own photos, even imperfect ones, work better.
