Grants and supports for small Irish firms

There is public support in Ireland for small businesses improving how they trade online, and a lot of owners never look into it because they assume it is all forms and red tape. It is worth a phone call at least.

Start with your Local Enterprise Office

Every county has one and they are the front door for most small business supports. They deal with businesses your size every day and the advice is free.

Ring them and describe what you are planning. They will tell you quickly whether anything fits.

The Trading Online Voucher has closed

The old website grant closed for new applications on 13 December 2024. It was replaced by the Grow Digital Voucher, worth up to €5,000 at 50%, which focuses on digital tools for running the business rather than a basic website. We have written a full guide to it separately.

Rules, amounts and eligibility change over time, so always check the current terms with your own office rather than taking anyone word for it.

Other supports worth asking about

These come up regularly for small firms.

  • Training and mentoring programmes
  • Digital and productivity supports
  • Energy efficiency grants for premises
  • Business advice clinics

What an application usually needs

Expect to provide details of the business, tax clearance, and quotes for the work you want to do. Nothing unusual, but it takes a bit of gathering.

Apply and get approval before you spend anything. Work already paid for generally does not qualify.

Where we come in

We can give you a written quote in the format these applications ask for. We cannot apply on your behalf and we will not tell you whether you qualify, because that is a matter for the office handling it.

Common questions

Can I get a grant for a website in Ireland?

There are supports aimed at small businesses trading online. Your Local Enterprise Office is the place to check what is currently available to you.

Do you handle the grant application?

We provide the quote you need for it. The application itself has to come from you as the business owner.
