What a trade website costs in Ireland

Ask three agencies what a website costs and you will get three very different answers. That is not because anyone is trying to rob you. It is because the word website covers everything from a single page with your number on it to a full booking system. Here is how the money breaks down for a typical Irish trade.

Why the quotes come in so far apart

A quote is really a quote for time. A five page site with your own photos, your own service pages and proper local setup takes a lot longer than dropping your logo onto a template. The finished pages can look similar in a screenshot and behave completely differently once a customer lands on them from Google.

The other thing that widens the gap is what happens after launch. Some quotes stop at the day the site goes live. Others include hosting, updates, security and someone answering the phone when you need a change. Always ask which one you are looking at before you compare two numbers.

What you are paying for

Most of the cost sits in a handful of areas.

  • Planning the pages around the jobs you actually want more of
  • Writing copy that reads like you and not like a brochure
  • Design and build, including how it behaves on a phone
  • Local setup so you can be found in your own area
  • Hosting, backups, security and ongoing fixes

The upfront problem

The awkward part for a lot of trades is timing. A new site is most useful when you are quiet, and quiet is exactly when you do not want to hand over a few thousand euro. So the site gets put off, and the quiet spell gets longer.

That is why we build the site for free and charge a flat monthly fee of €59.99 with a 12 month minimum. You get the build, the hosting, the maintenance, the edits and ongoing local SEO work without a lump sum at the start.

How to spot a quote that will cost you later

Watch for a low build price with no mention of who owns the site, where it is hosted, or what happens when you need a change. A cheap build with no support usually means a year later you are paying someone else to untangle it.

Ask three questions of any quote: what happens if I need a page changed, who renews the domain, and what am I paying every month from here on. If those answers are vague, the number is not the real number.

What a website should earn back

Think of it against the things you already pay for. Van signage, leaflets and a directory listing all cost money every year and none of them answer a customer at nine at night. A site that shows up for local searches is working while you are on the tools.

We will not promise you a set number of leads, because nobody honest can. What we can do is build the thing properly, keep it running, and keep working on your local visibility every month.

Common questions

How much does a website cost for a small Irish trade?

It varies widely depending on the number of pages, the copy and whether support is included. Our own offer is a free build plus €59.99 a month on a 12 month minimum, which covers hosting, maintenance, edits and ongoing local SEO.

Is a cheap template website good enough?

It can get you online, but templates usually skip local setup, proper service pages and mobile speed. That is the part that decides whether anyone finds you.

Are there hidden costs after launch?

There can be. Domain renewal, hosting, SSL, plugin licences and change requests all add up. Ask for the full yearly figure, not just the build price.
