Guide

How often to update your website

A website is not a brochure you print once. It is also not something that needs redoing every year. The trick is knowing which bits benefit from regular attention and which can sit happily for a long time.

Every month, if you can

Add new job photos while they are fresh, and post them to your Google profile at the same time. Reply to any reviews that came in.

This is the part that keeps you visible locally, and it takes minutes rather than hours.

Every few months

A quick pass over the practical details.

  • Are your services still accurate
  • Have you added an area you now cover
  • Are your opening hours right
  • Is anything on the site out of date or no longer true
  • Do all the buttons and forms still work

Once a year

Read your main pages as if you were a customer. Businesses change and the site often lags behind, still pushing work you no longer want.

This is also the time to add pages for services that have grown and quietly retire ones that never went anywhere.

When a rebuild is actually justified

If the site is slow, awkward on a phone, or built on something nobody can safely update, patching it is throwing good money after bad.

Otherwise, steady improvement beats a redesign. A site that gets small changes every month usually outperforms one that gets rebuilt every four years.

Who does it

Most trades do not have time and that is fine. On our monthly plan you send us the photos or the change and we do it, which is the only way it actually stays current.

Common questions

Does updating my website help my Google ranking?

Genuine updates help, especially new photos and new service or area content. Changing a date to look fresh does nothing.

How much does a small change usually cost?

On our monthly plan, ordinary edits are included, so there is no invoice for changing a phone number or adding photos.

Where to go next
