Guide
Websites for builders and groundworks contractors
When somebody is spending serious money on an extension or a renovation, they do not ring the first result. They look at several builders, read reviews, look at finished projects and try to work out who will not leave them in a half built house in December.
Project pages beat a photo gallery
Instead of a wall of photos, write up a handful of full projects. What the client wanted, what was involved, how long it took, how it finished.
That format answers the questions a nervous homeowner has and it gives you real pages that can be found in search.
Be clear on scale
If you do full house builds, say it. If your sweet spot is single storey extensions and attic conversions, say that instead. The wrong enquiries waste days of your time in surveys that go nowhere.
Naming your typical project size politely filters the list.
What to cover
A builder site normally needs pages along these lines.
- Extensions and attic conversions
- Full renovations and refurbishments
- New builds
- Groundworks, foundations and drainage
- Garage conversions and garden rooms
- Commercial fit outs if you do them
Show you are a proper business
Insurance, tax clearance, health and safety, a registered company name and a real office address all matter far more here than in a small job trade.
Homeowners have heard the horror stories. Every bit of paperwork you show reduces the risk they feel.
Common questions
Do builders really get extension work from Google?
Yes. Extension and renovation searches are among the most valuable local searches there are, and most of them start with no particular builder in mind.
How many projects should I write up?
Five or six proper write ups do more than fifty photos. Add one after every job you are proud of.
